The Executive
The EFTRE Executive manages the day-to-day business of the organisation. It is composed of elected offices from the board and serves for three years from conference to conference, the executive elects its own chair and the offices of secretary and treasurer.

Lesley Prior [Chair]
Lesley has been involved in Religious Education in England for over 25 years. She has been a part-time Senior Lecturer in RE at the University of Roehampton in South-West London since 2009 where she is involved in pre-service teacher education at both primary and secondary levels. Lesley is also an RE advisor to schools in nine different local government areas in Greater London.
Lesley first became aware of the work of EFTRE in 2001 when she attended the EFTRE conference in Edinburgh in Scotland and she had been part of every EFTRE conference since then. Lesley joined the board and the executive after the Budapest conference in 2007 and became chair in 2013.

Elisabeth Faber [Secretary]
Elisabeth has been teaching since 1992 and currently teaches Religious Studies in Upper Secondary Education at Aalborg Katedralskole in Denmark. As well as Religious Studies she also teaches History and works as a Student Councillor. She lives and works in the northern part of Denmark in the city of Aalborg. Elisabeth graduated from Århus University in 1992 with a BA in History and an MA in Religious Studies.
Elisabeth has been a board member for the Danish RE-organisations since 2005 and EFTRE's secretary since 2013. She has also been a member of the Board for the Danish Association for RE teachers in Upper Secondary Education. On the EFTRE Board she represents her own organisation, the Danish organisation for primary School RE-teachers and the Danish organisation for College Teachers.

Hugo Verkest [Treasurer]
Hugo Verkest is a senior lecturer at the University College VIVES situated in the Flemish part of Belgium. He has worked here for more than 20 years and is responsible for day and evening courses in didactics at the teacher training college. Ten years ago he started with optional courses of peace and value education and Remembrance Education in relation to World War I and genocides. He is also intervention in cultural and linguistic diversity and RE.
Hugo has published widely in the area of RE in school textbooks and in academic works. He has also worked on a range of international programmes (Pestalozzi , and Council of Europe).
Hugo has been a board member of EFTRE and since 2007 he has been its treasuerer.

Outi Raunio Hannula
Outi has been teaching RE at the comprehensive and upper secondary level in Finland since 2001. Now she works as a teacher of RE and Psychology in an upper secondary school in Hyvinkää. She has been a board member of Finnish Association for Teachers of Religious Education (SUOLry) and involved in many other activities of RE in Finland and in Europe. She came to executive board of EFTRE in 2008. She has master degrees in both Theology and in Arts (Education).

Sonja Danner
Sonja has been a teacher of Religious Education since 1991. From 2000, she has been responsible for the in-service training of RE teachers of Secondary Schools in Austria and is based in Vienna at the Kirchliche Pädagogische Hochschule Wien / Krems.
2000 is also the year that Sonja became involved in EFTRE, representing Austria. Sonja was chair of EFTRE from 2004 to 2013 and continues to be a member of the board and the executive.

Marios Kokounaras Liagkis
Marios is a Lecturer in RE at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Dep. Theology). He studied Theology and Greek Philology. He holds an MA in Pedagogy and a PhD in Sociology of Religion from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Dep. Theology). He was working for ten years as a RE teacher at Secondary Education schools. During 2007 – 2009 he worked as a Consultant to the Minister of Education and Religious Affairs. He has been involved in designing the recent curricula of RE (2015). He organizes several teaching training courses and programmes for RE students and pre- and in-service teachers. He is the author of four books on pedagogy and RE.

Bianca Kappelhoff
Bianca is an educational researcher at the Comenius-Institute in Münster, Germany. Her role is entitled „ Protestant responsibility for education in Europe”. Her task is to promote exchange and research in religious education in Europe. She is engaged in various European networks around Church and School issues such as ICCS and CoGREE.
Beforehand, Bianca worked at the education department of the EKD church office as project manager for the worldwide network of Protestant schools “GPENreformation”. Bianca studied political sciences including a focus on European studies and speaks German, French and English. Bianca can be contacted at: kappelhoff@comenius.de
