EFTRE aims to:
contribute to the international cooperation of teachers of Religious Education in the theoretical and practical aspects of their work;
develop links between teachers of Religious Education in member countries;
strengthen and promote the position of Religious Education in schools in the member countries and in Europe in general and
lobby organisations and structurs at the national and European level to improve the provision and quality of Religious Education across its member countries and across Europe.

The XIIIth EFTRE conference 2016, BELIEVING, BELONGING, BEHAVING, run in conjunction with CoGREE (the coordinating group for RE in Europe) took place in the beautiful capital city of Austria, Vienna; meeting place of west and east, of Christianity and Islam.
